White Burgundy & Argentine Malbec
The original home of Chardonnay, Burgundy can seem very complicated to an outsider. Here we will compare a generic white Burgundy with a good example of a Macon Villages wine and finally a premium example from Pouilly-Fuissé. Burgundian wines are very much driven by their Terroir, and this event will explore how the different vineyard locations within a relatively small area make a huge difference to the quality of the wine, despite a consistent grape variety.
Big, beefy and seriously popular, Malbec is Argetina's trademark grape variety. The combination of its black fruit forward style with full-body, but without high levels of tannin makes it an accessible and easy drinking style of wine. However, at higher end price points its much more than that and expresses the terroir of its Andes foothills well. In this exploration we will taste three examples from an inexpensive, fruit-driven entry level up to a full-bodied, oaked wine from the premium production area of Uco Valley (Mendoza).
Professional ISO tasting glasses, all course materials including tasting sheets & water are provided along with some nibbles to help the wine along.
