Loire Valley vs New Zealand

A new era is dawning for everyone involved in classrooms and events. Using modern technology, we can enjoy learning about our favourite wines (and gin) from the comfort and safety of our own homes. This has the added advantage that nobody needs to be the “designated driver”. Using Zoom video conferencing is just like being in the room with Gary, who will, as ever educate, inform and entertain you for about an hour.

All sessions will be recorded and if you can't attend at the last minute just let us know so you can go through the event at your convenience later.

Why not invite your friends to make it a truly social experience?

Tonight, we continue where we left off from Facebook sessions in our comparison of French and New World wines.

This session is all about Sauvignon Blanc, the UK’s favourite white grape variety, with Marlborough in New Zealand setting the pace, but did you know the grape is originally from the Loire Valley in France?

Join us as we compare and contrast a New Zealand and a French Sauvignon Blanc and you will begin to understand the difference in wine style and why they taste different as the mystery of what the French call “terroir” is revealed.

All YOU have to do is purchase a ticket from the Shropshire Wine School website by clicking the "BOOK" button below, as you would normally. A ticket entitles ALL members of your household to join in. There is no need to buy one ticket per person. Once your ticket purchased, you will receive a confirmation email with your ZOOM web link and password 2 days before the event itself.

Then pop out and buy (or buy online) a Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough in New Zealand together with a French example from the Loire Valley. Many of the French wines do not have the grape variety on the label, so the ones to look for are Sancerre AC or Pouilly Fumé and opening those wines LIVE with us on the night.  I will be opening a "Ned" from New Zealand (widely available in many retailers) and La Perriere, Pouilly-Fumé AC available from Waitrose.

This is week one of a five week course comparing the wines of France and the New World. Book all five weeks together for just £10 per week.  Click here to reserve your place.
