Introduction to New World Wines

Introduction to New World Wines

Do you love the fruity white wines from places like New Zealand, or perhaps a deep, powerful red wine is more your thing?

Then we have a wonderful event for you!

Wines from countries such as Australia, Chile and South Africa dominate the supermarket shelves but wouldn't you like to explore what these countries can do away from the big brands and price promotions?

Blessed with significantly warmer and more reliable climates than Europe, wines from the New World are established favourites with British consumers and it's easy to see why - intensely fruity wines often with real weight and depth of flavour are commonplace.

Some New World "Classics" such as Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough in New Zealand and Malbec from Mendoza in Argentina eclipse their European ancestral wines making them some of the most popular wines on the market.

In this session, you will learn to taste wine like a professional and we will explain the labelling of New World wines, which is much more straightforward than wines from the traditional European vineyards.

We will then introduce the key wine producing countries in the New World as a sample of what we will cover over the following weeks and sample a wine from each of them.

  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • Chile
  • Argentina
  • South Africa
  • USA

We go beyond the obvious to introduce you to some "hidden gems" that these countries produce.

Professional ISO tasting glasses, all course materials including tasting sheets & water are provided.
